Open service pageHow sign-in will work across College systems
- One institutional identity per person, issued by the College — never self-created.
- MIS and the LMS share that identity; each system authorises separately by role.
- Roles are labels; the security boundary is server-side authorisation and row-level policy.
- No system trusts the browser: every privileged action is decided and recorded on the server.
- No single-sign-on is simulated in the browser. Central identity is built with the secure backend.
- Mail is delivered by an established provider — the College will never run a home-made mail server.
Permission boundaries
- A lecturer cannot see a student's finance record.
- A finance officer cannot alter an academic grade.
- A student cannot see another student's record.
- An applicant cannot reach any staff system.
- No account can raise its own role.
These boundaries are enforced by the secure system on the server, never by hiding buttons in the browser.
